1st Rayne Scout Group Scouts had a ‘Back to Basics’ camp at Danenead Scout Campsite. We learnt awesome skills: fire building, cooking over fire, knife skills, whittling, axe 🪓 & saw, learning edible forest foods, creating snares, survival first aid ⛑️ and then there was the shelter building. The Scouts were given a simple task: build a shelter using dead wood, leaves, ferns & branches from the forest 🌳. I then walked away. I came back a couple of hours later and this is what they had created.
